Wayne Jenson, 82 of Cavalier, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held Sunday August 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier N.D. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 28th from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Masonic service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, N.D.
Wayne Clifton Jenson was born May 5, 1939, in Grafton, N.D. to Clifton and Dolores (Schulz) Jenson.
He spent his entire life in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School. He attended Mayville State, UND and graduated from Aaker’s Business College. He was first employed at Rosenberger Motors in Langdon, N.D. before joining Olson Motors in Cavalier in 1961. He started Wayne’s Variety in 1968 which is still in business today and expanded the business to include Wayne’s Variety in Park River, N.D. in 1978. Going to markets for his stores in Chicago, Iowa, Kansas City and Minneapolis was something he really enjoyed.
Wayne was very involved in the community. He served as a Cavalier council person for 50 years from 1962 to 2012. He started and ran the DeMolay chapter from 1962 to 1987 and was a Master Mason for 59 years and he was part of the Scottish Rite for 52 years. He was a long-time member of the Cavalier United Methodist church until it closed in 2019. Wayne loved to travel and went on many cruises through the years. Spending time with his family was very important to him and he enjoyed all the family gatherings especially at Christmas time.
Survivors include his siblings: Ronald (June) Jenson, Beverly (Dean) Hinkle of Cavalier, N.D., Richard (Cindy) Jenson, Northfield, MN. and Mark (Jodi) Jenson, Minneapolis MN.: nephews and nieces: Pam (Wayne) Clarksean, Patti (Floyd) Rollefstad, Paula (Larry) Gapp, Peggy (Brian) Devine; John (Nancy) Jenson, James (Jeanette) Jenson, Jay (Jodi) Jenson; Kristi (Craig) Sharp; Anders and Lauren Jenson: 18 great nieces/nephews and 10 great-great nieces/nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his parents.
