Warren Magnus

April 27, 1946 — November 24, 2017

Warren Emil Magnus was born April 27, 1946, in Langdon, North Dakota, to Helmer and Hilda Magnus. Warren was the youngest of four children and grew up on a farm east of Langdon, sharing many boyhood adventures with his identical twin brother Wayne Magnus.
Warren's mother Hilda taught all eight grades in the country school where Warren met the love of his life and best friend, Melvena Krahn. After graduating from Langdon High School in 1965, Warren attended Mayville State University and Moorhead State College. He graduated with a B. S. in Education in 1969 and earned a Master of Education in Industrial Technology. Warren spent 17 years working as the manager, salesman and architectural draftsman at Lorrich Industries. He also taught industrial arts for 26 years, first in the Fargo-Moorhead area and later in Walhalla, ND.
Warren and Melvena were married July 9, 1976, and they have five children. Warren's faith in Christ was the foundation of his life and his family. In each community they lived in, Warren served in his local church in multiple roles, including church treasurer, board member, Sunday school teacher, and Awana leader.
Warren was gifted in working with his hands. He built their first family home in Moorhead, MN, and their current home outside Cavalier, ND. As a hobby, he designed and built a separate log cabin for the family to enjoy, and he assisted in building the Cavalier Evangelical Free Church. Photography was another passion. Warren established Magnus Photos soon after he and Melvena were married, and they worked together in this business for about 30 years. Warren also enjoyed riding his 1975 Honda 550 motorcycle, making Norwegian lefse and flatbread, and reading. He was interested and knowledgeable about a wide array of topics, and he especially enjoying reading about history, biographies, and technology.
Warren Emil Magnus, 71, Cavalier, entered the presence of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on Friday, November 24, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Melvena Magnus; daughter Vanessa Magnus; sons Trenton (JoEllen), Dustin (Jules), and Logan (Jaden) Magnus; and daughter Kriscinda (Ryan) Johnson; as well as sisters Carole Hamann and Anita (Keith) Starr; twin brother Wayne (Evanna) Magnus; and five grandchildren: Torin, Lynton, Lochlan, Ahnika, and Kaiden. He was preceded in death by parents Helmer and Hilda Magnus and granddaughter Willow Magnus.
