Vivian B. Thomas

Vivian B. Thomas age 85 of Crystal, ND died on Monday, September 5, 2005, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Crystal United Methodist Church, Crystal, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
Vivian B. Johnson was born August 9, 1920, at Crystal, ND to Lewellyn and Myrna (Whitney) Johnson.
In 1941, she married Leonard Onstad, he died in 1947.On December 31, 1958, married Robert Paul Thomas at Leonard, ND.
Vivian was assistant postmaster of the Crystal Post Office for 31 years. She also worked at Altendorf's Café, Salwei Grocery Store, and the Crystal Co-op Store until her retirement. Her memberships were a lifetime honorary member of the Crystal American Legion Auxiliary and active in the Crystal United Methodist Church and its U.M.W.
She is survived by her children, Lowell (Joanne) Onstad, Fremont, CA; Corrine (Brian) Lofberg, Fox Lake, WI; and June Puppe, Kent, WA; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sister, Evelyn Dietrich, Crystal, ND; brother, Louis (Ragna) Johnson, Crystal, ND.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Leonard Onstad and Robert Paul Thomas, grand daughter, Dani Lyn Puppe, and sister, Louella Peckenpaugh.
