Tina M. Grumbo, 40, of Cavalier, ND passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, MN. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First Methodist Church.
Tina Marie was born July 1, 1977 at Fargo, ND, the daughter of Marvin and Roberta (Berens) Grumbo. She grew up and attended school in Cavalier, graduating from Cavalier High School in 1995. After attending the University of North Dakota with a bachelor's degree in English, while at UND she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She then returned to Cavalier, where she worked at Sammy's Bar and wrote for the Cavalier Chronicle. In May of 2001, she joined the Peace Corp and taught English in the Philippines until November of 2001. Tina then moved to England to attend graduate school at Exeter University, where she received her master's degree. While in England, she worked as a social worker with homeless juveniles. In 2008, she began work with the homeless collation in Bismarck, ND. She moved to Washburn, ND in 2011 where she taught school and in July of 2013, moved to Cavalier where she taught Junior High English. At the Cavalier School, she was also the cheerleading coach and advisor of the Tornado Breezes Newspaper. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and writing for the Cavalier Chronicle. Tina was a member of the Cavalier Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her love, Tyler Peterson; daughters: Lila and Eliot; brother, Terry (Jill) Grumbo; nephews: Terry James and Turner Grumbo; her dogs: Maggie and Waylon.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
