Thora G. Dinusson

Thora G. Dinusson age 92 of Cavalier, ND., died on Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Crystal United Methodist Church, Crystal, North Dakota. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Thora G. Bjornson was born February 27, 1912, in Akra Township, near Hensel, ND., the daughter of Sigurdur and Thorey (Emerson) Bjornson. She attended the Scheving School District #77, completing the eight grades in six years. In 1928, she graduated from Cavalier High School, and then completed a secretarial course at Union Commercial College in Grand Forks. She then became the secretary to the Administrator of Federal Emergency Relief which later became the Pembina County Welfare Board.
On June 11, 1940, she married Kristjan Dinus Dinusson at her farm home. Following their marriage, they farmed near Svold, ND. She did return to work at the Pembina County Court House and spent five years as secretary to Amity Eastman, Public Health Nurse. In 1988, Thora and Dinus moved to Country Estates in Cavalier. While they resided there Thora wrote a weekly column �Estate Whispers' for the Cavalier Chronicle. In 1995, Thora and Dinus moved to Wedgewood Manor. Dinus Dinusson died on October 17, 1998.
She was a member of Peters Lutheran Church, Svold and was very active in her church, as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Parish Luther League Advisor. She was a 4-H leader for many years. Thora was also a member of the Borg Auxiliary, C.R. Green Rebekah Lodge, and Friendship Club.
She is survived by her children, Mary Beth Noble, Crystal, ND., John (Suzanne) Dinusson, Rochester, MN., grandchildren, Anita (Matthew) Mitlying, Anoka, MN., Dr. Jacquelyn Dinusson, Milwaukee, WI., John F. Dinusson, St. Louis Park, MN. and Matthew Dinusson, New York City, NY.
Thora was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Sig Bjornson, and sisters, Anna Hillman, Freda Carlson, and Aldys Carik, and son-in-law, A.N. Noble.
Burial in the Peters Cemetery, Svold, ND.
