Thelma Schluchter age 98 of Cavalier, ND died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, November 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND.
Thelma P. Restemayer was born October 30, 1907, near Cavalier, ND to Alvin and Naomi (Schluchter) Restemayer. She grew up and attended school near Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School. Thelma then attended Mayville State Teachers College for two years. After college she taught in a rural school near Cavalier.
On October 1, 1930, she married William H. Schluchter at Cavalier. After their marriage they farmed in the Cavalier area. William died on September 7, 1971. She continued living in Cavalier, for the past four years she lived at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND.
She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church , where she taught Sunday School for several years. Thelma was also active in the W.C.T.U. and the Tongue River Sewing Circle.
She is survived by her children, Del (Aliene) Schluchter, Tucson, AZ, Avis (Leon) Fjestad, Grand Forks, ND, daughter-in-law, Sharon Schluchter, Cavalier, ND, grandchildren, Wayne Schluchter, Joy Farrington; Brian and Daniel Fjestad, Becky Vakoc; Shelley Friedt, Kevin and Kent Schluchter, and Nancy Kolstoe, 16 great grandchildren, brother, Norbert Restemayer, Bemidji, MN, sister-in-law, Helen (Don) Acer, Ormond Beach, FL.
Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Keith Schluchter and brothers, Lawrence and Clint Restemayer, son-in-law, Corbin Tindall.
