Susanne Patricia Hunter McVay, 80, entered this earth on November 1, 1946 and her Lord and Savior took her home to be with Him exactly 80 years later on her birthday, November 1, 2026.
She was born in Grafton, ND to Floyd and Delores (Dinkel) Hunter. She attended and graduated from Crystal Public School.
Twenty-five years of her life were spent in California where her four sons were born. She was a military wife, and a Gold Star mother. After that she moved to Midland, Texas where she had a career with Kent Oil, Inc. for more than 20 years. She worked with MCFD Alumni and MCSO Department as a citizen on patrol and intervention crisis member. She was also a member of the Kelview Church in Midland. She moved back to North Dakota to retire where she grew up.
Susanne is survived by her son, Douglas (Yolanda) McVay, their 3 daughters, Ashley (Arvin) Viencio, Bridney (Blake) Christner and their daughter, Quinn, and Chelsey McVay; son, Damon McVay, USN; other grandchildren: Bridgette (Geremiah) Gibbons and their children: Jasper Rose and Persephone Jack, Lindsey McVay, and Samantha McVay; her siblings: Darlene Roy, Dave (Linda) Hunter, Barry (Connie) Hunter, Julie (Don) Heuchert, and several nieces and nephews, including her special niece Mandy, who spent most of the summer with her.
Susanne is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Charles David McVay, son, Daniel McVay; and brother, Floyd Ronald Hunter.
A family graveside service will be held at the Crystal Memorial Cemetery.
She had a courageous battle with cancer and her wish was to make it to 80 and that she did.
A little piece of her thoughts she left for us:
To Those Whom I Love & Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go.I have so many things to see and do,You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears,But be thankful we had so many good years.
I gave you my love, and you can only guessHow much you've given me in happiness.I thank you for the love that you have shown,But now it is time I traveled on alone.
So grieve for me a while, if grieve you must,Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that we must part,So treasure the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away for life goes on.And if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear,All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you come this way alone,I'll greet you with a smile and a 'Welcome Home'.
