Rodney Vondal

Rodney A. Vondal, 59, of Walhalla, ND, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held Friday, April 20th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. rosary and 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Cavalier County Memorial Hospital.

Rodney was born February 20, 1959, in Cavalier, ND, to Adelord and Viola (Olson) Vondal. He grew up and attended school in Walhalla, graduating in 1977. He then went to Lake Region Junior College for mechanics. After school Rodney moved back to the Walhalla area where he farmed. He married Jackie Lattergrass.

Some of the things he enjoyed were driving truck, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was affectionately known as “Bud” to his siblings, and “Hot Rod” to his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie; his children; siblings: Roger (Carol) Vondal, Harvey, ND; Richard (Janet) Vondal, Minot, ND; Joan (Lloyd) Hoffarth, Lakota, ND; Jim (Donna) Vondal, Cando, ND; Barbara (Loren) Christianson, Langdon, ND; Roxie (Allen) Horsley, Neche, ND; Valerie Gordon, Audubon, MN; and Susan (Brian) Danielson, Walhalla, ND; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
