Robert James Lembke, formerly of Neche, ND passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at his home in Evanston, IL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. Burial will be held in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

     Robert was born August 13, 1948 to James and Dorothy (Menke) Lembke at Grafton, ND. He attended country school and later graduated from Neche High School in 1966. Robert then attended the University of North Dakota, where he received a degree in Library Science. After graduation he received a job at the Evanston County Public School District, where he worked for 20 years until his retirement.

     He was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at a young age and battled the disease until his passing, but never giving up hope. He had a great attitude and faith. He loved to be around people, especially talking about politics and the oppressed. He had many friends and will be greatly missed. Robert was an active member of the Reba Place Church in Evanston.

     Robert is survived by his brother, David (Colleen) Lembke, North Platte, NE; nephew, Jeremiah (Kari) Lembke, Highlands Ranch, CO; nieces: Jessica Pankonin and Jami (Eric) Stueben, all of Grand Island, NE, Emily Lembke, North Platte, NE.

     He was preceded in death by both his parents, who passed away earlier this year.
