Richard Hughs

Richard Hughs, 73, of Walhalla, ND passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at his home near Walhalla. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Walhalla Lutheran Church in Walhalla. A visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Walhalla Lutheran in Walhalla.
Richard was born on January 23, 1943, to Ray and Julia Hughs near Nary, MN on the family farm. He grew up and attended school near Nary. Richard went on to be a professional truck driver. In December of 1985, he married May Crouse. Richard enjoyed fishing and tinkering on his tractors. He spent a lot of time helping his beloved wife with all the care and upkeep of their animals on the farm. The light of his life were his grandchildren. Richard enjoyed his time with them very much.
Richard is survived by his wife, May; their daughter, Julia Hughs Srnsky of Langdon, ND; stepdaughter, Melissa Macarthur of Sand Springs, OK; his children from a previous marriage, son, Kalvin Hughs of Bemidji, MN; daughters: Tammy Johnson, of Laporte, MN; Mary Stromquist of Grand Forks, ND; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Ann) Hughs of Cass Lake, MN and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons: Marvin, Robin, and Chris; sisters, Lila and Lucille; and brother, Vern.
