Richard Domres, 94, of Wales, ND, passed away December 28, 2017, at his home.
Richard was born March 13, 1923, in South Dresden Township to Carl and Minnie (Sperling) Domres. He grew up in the Wales, ND area and joined the US Air Force in 1943. After being stationed in Galveston, TX, Grand Island, NE, and Tinian and Saipan in the Marianas Islands, he was honorably discharged in 1946. Richard worked in Benton Harbor, MI from 1947 to 1949 and was united in marriage to Nita Carrington on October 8, 1949, in Benton Harbor. They moved to the Wales area in 1949 and farmed west of Wales. In 1972, they moved into Wales, but Richard continued farming until ââ¬Åretiringââ¬Å¥ in 1987. He and Nita enjoyed many winters in Mesa, AZ.
Richard enjoyed reading and fishing. He loved to work on his tractors and restored his very first tractor he farmed with. In his younger years, he played guitar and was in a band that played at the local bars. He was once on the Curling Club board in Wales, a member of the Langdon Eagles Club and United Lutheran Church.
Surviving Richard are his wife, Nita, of Wales, ND; sons: Denis of Wales and Timothy (Dorothy) of Wales; grandchildren: Brandon (Kayla) Domres of Langdon, ND, and Heather (Clinton) Stearns of Grand Forks, ND; great-grandchildren: Ryker, Parker & Tucker Domres and Evee Stearns; sisters Alma Johnstad and Helen Bittner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Rudolph, Fred, Lena (Ed) Halzle, Herman (Helen), Hilda (Ralph) Parker, Emil, Edwin, Betty (Bob) Haiker; and brothers-in-law James Johnstad and Howard Bittner.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at United Lutheran Church.
