Odin "Swanny" Swanson

d. October 12, 2020

Odin E. Swanson "Swanny", 85, of Cavalier, ND passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, North Dakota.

Odin E. Swanson was born November 23, 1934 to Ella Swanson. He grew up and attended school at Cavalier. For several years he worked for Abrahamson Construction driving cement truck, in Cavalier and in 1997, went to work at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, ND.  On November 24, 1973, he married Margaret Klemisch Pederson at Cavalier, ND.

Swanny enjoyed working on cars, camping, going for car rides with Margaret and visiting with his friends. He also enjoyed playing cards and hangman while spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Those who really knew him, knew he had some interesting eating habits,  the amount of salt he could add to a meal, his mayo and ketchup sandwiches and his ability to butter every inch of a piece of toast were one of a kind, but the best was sneaking and hiding candy and the smile on his face when he got away with it.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Swanson, step-children: Karen Ballweg, West Fargo, ND and Duane (Cindy) Pederson, Sr., Fairbanks, AK.  Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Ella, wife, Margaret,  son, Keith Swanson, step-sons Tony Pederson and Joe Pederson and step-daughter Linda Pederson Roppel.

A private memorial service will be held at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND, with burial to follow.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, ND.
