Mike Sauer

Mike Sauer, 60, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Mike or Mic, as some would call him, was born April 22, 1957, to Lloyd and Dorothy (Schill) Sauer in Langdon, ND. He grew up and attended school in Langdon, graduating in 1975. He continued his education at NDSCS in Wahpeton studying mechanics. He changed his focus and became a long haul truck driver working for different employers including Johnson Farms before turning owner operator, making many runs for CHS. Mike married Laurie Sanford in 1986 until she passed away in 2003. On June 28, 2008, Mike married ShaAnn Bangert in Fargo, ND, and they made their home in Langdon. In 2009, Mike earned his associates degree in accounting from Lake Region in Devils Lake, ND. Mike took a job with Hartley’s bus service and drove a route for a few years and was currently driving the activity bus to out-of-town events while working some for Trent Peterson Farms, which he truly enjoyed.

Mike loved to play cards- especially pinochle with his family, assemble puzzles, play trivia crack and go fishing. He was a huge NASCAR fan and was fascinated with genealogy. He loved history, especially family and local history. It seemed like he didn’t forget anything he read and was a constant source of knowledge and useless information. Mike had a large garden and enjoyed taking care of the pool in the backyard in the summer. Some nights he would go to the Eagles Aerie #3454 to put his quarter in for the member drawing and have a beer. He loved socializing.

Surviving Mike are his wife, ShaAnn, of Langdon; mother Dorothy Sauer of Langdon; and siblings: Duane (Gervanna) of Grand Forks, Carl of Langdon, Jacqueline (Tim) Keith of Chadron, NE, Joyce Sauer of Rapid City, SD, Jeanette (Tim) Houle from Brainerd, MN, and Jennifer (James) Kruize of Fargo, ND, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd, and his grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Parish Center in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
