Melvin was easy to admire. He was extremely hardworking, friendly, down to earth, and very supportive of his family. There was nothing phony about him. He had a great smile, too! He was a good friend to my dad, and I recall Mom and Dad describing Melvin more than once as "a good egg." My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. Melvin and I had many conversations in the Auditor's Office. When I would teach the mandatory Assessor's class, we would joke about the fact that he could be teaching it because he was so well versed on what needed to be done. Then he would say "I probably could if my hearing wasn't so bad." I joked with him and said I thought he sat at the front of the room because he was being a good student. He was so personable and a very learned man. Be proud. He was also a great neighbor. Don and Dawn Roppel
