Max Johnson

It is with great sadness that the family of Max Bert Johnson of Walhalla announces his passing on January 17, 2018 in Grand Forks, ND, at the age of 27 years. Max will be sadly missed by: his father Al Johnson, Al's partner Angie George, siblings Sam and Tess Johnson, his sons Toby and Ty Johnson, Max's life partner Ashley Holt and her daughter Taryn Nelson, maternal Grandparents Mac and Pat Susag, Allen Zuther and Diane Susag, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Proceeding him in death were his mother, Kim Susag Johnson and paternal grandparents, Bert and Betty Johnson.

Max had an active lifestyle growing up in Walhalla. He kept busy in Cub Scouts, wrestling, basketball, swimming, skiing, four wheeling, Sunday School, going to the lake, snowmobiling, piano lessons, Bible camp, taking care of pets, and spending time with extended family. Upon graduating from high school, Max joined his father in the family farming business.

Max had an infectious laugh and had a tender soul. He loved the Lord and always searched to know the Lord better. He cared for the hurting. He was inclusive. He gave love and acceptance to others freely. He was an encourager. He never judged, never held a grudge, and never paid evil with evil. Max was overwhelmingly loved and will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 24th, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. at the church.
