Mary Ann (Tootie) Hall, 92, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.
Mary Ann Wirt was born July 25, 1927, in Langdon, ND, to Charles and Josephine Wirt. She grew up in Langdon, graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in 1943, and married Lloyd (Ted) Hall at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon on November 5, 1945. They made their home and farmed near Mt. Carmel Dam. They later moved to town where Tootie worked at the Langdon Elementary School for several years. In 2018, Tootie moved to the Osnabrock Community Living Center, where she was lovingly cared for until her passing.
Tootie was known for her sense of humor, her practical jokes, and sarcastic one-liners. She was a devoted Catholic and volunteered her time in many ways at her church. Tootie’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of countless sporting events spanning 65 years and loved spending time with the family at Hall’s Landing at Mt. Carmel Dam. She worked tirelessly to ensure there was an abundance of canned pickles, homemade buns, elephant ears, chocolate chip cookies, hand-knit afghans, dish cloths, and Christmas spritz cookies to be enjoyed by friends, family, and even strangers.
Surviving Tootie are her children: Wayne (Heather) Hall of North Carolina, Robert (Janet) Hall of Langdon, Carrie Bachman of Langdon, Bruce (Katherine) Hall of Alexandria, MN, Connie Stremick (Perry) of Langdon, Julie (Mark) Fisk of Langdon, and Lisa Niesen (Brian) of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren: Andy, Ben, Davin, Rian, Josh, Ashley, Chris, Marty, Matt, Ryan, Jennie, Nick, Billy, Troy, Terra, Jill, Adam, Aron, Jordan, Brooke, Taylor, and Cody; numerous great-grandchildren and her Osnabrock Community Living Center family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, son-in-law Vic Bachman, and her siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. and Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Osnabrock Community Living Center, 326 Rainbow Rd., Osnabrock, ND 58269.
