Martha H. Becker, 87, formerly of Cavalier, ND, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, quietly at her home in Devils Lake, ND and is now in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Martha was born October 15, 1938, in Oberschlesien, Germany to Alois and Emma Rychlick. She was the youngest of two brothers and five sisters, and grew up in Heckendorf, Germany. Martha by the grace of God's hands had an upbringing during WWII. I say this, shared by her son Darrel, because there was a time when her mother could not board a train because it was full and had to board the next train. While they were waiting for the next train, which Martha could not board got down the tracks and was blown up by the Nazis. There were many other trials Martha went through that from the few stories she shared, I know her life story could have been published in a book.
Martha caught Allen G. Becker’s eye while he was driving around stationed in Heckendorf, Germany, while serving in the United States Army. She came to the United States in March of 1961, and was married to Allen on April 2, 1961, in Cavalier. They settled in Cavalier and raised two sons, Dean and Darrel.
She lived a simple life as a housewife, mother, and grandmother. Martha traveled with Allen when he was employed with Mayo Construction, always making sure her husband and boy were fed. While Allen farmed, Martha babysat many school teachers' kids. Her home, car, and garage were always clean and organized. After Allen passed away, she was employed at Wedgewood Manor for 10 plus years.
Survivors include her son, Darrel (Mila) Becker, Devils Lake, ND, grandson, Dustin Cluchie, Cavalier, ND, granddaughters: Skyler Johnson Becker, Newnan, GA and Dakota Becker, Richmond, VA and great granddaughters: Olivia and Camerin, Cavalier, ND.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Allen, son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Gloria, and five sisters and two brothers from Germany.
Upon Martha’s wishes no service will be held, burial will take place in the Cavalier Cemetery. Please direct memorials to the Cavalier Ambulance Service.
