Marjorie Mikkelsen

Marjorie Mikkelsen, 85, formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Moorhead, MN.

Marjorie Anna Dickhausen was born on March 8, 1933, at Wales, ND, to Henry and Coletta (Diesburg) Dickhausen. She grew up on the family farm near Wales and attended school in Wales and Hannah, graduating from Wales High School in 1951. Following graduation she taught in rural one room school houses.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Gerald Mikkelsen on April 18, 1955, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wales. They lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado for a short time until Gerald was discharged from the army. They then returned to North Dakota and lived in Wales, Valley City, Brocket, Nekoma, and Langdon. They enjoyed 57 happy years together. Marjorie spent the past two years living near family in Hawley and Moorhead, Minnesota.

Marjorie and Gerald were the owners/operators of G & M Lanes in Langdon for many years. During her time in Langdon, Marjorie volunteered at Maple Manor Care Center, Meals on Wheels, and Langdon Ambulance. She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a member and past president of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ct. Queen of the Prairie. She was a member of the Langdon Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Marjorie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends were always welcome in her home. She loved spending time with and helping others, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to visit family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and other school activities.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Kerry (Mavis) Mikkelsen of Bismarck, ND, Darlene Mikkelsen of Seattle, WA, Kathy Borgen of Langdon, ND, Debra (Michael) Shuga of Tempe, AZ, and Geralyn (Mark) Klevgaard of Hawley, MN; grandchildren: Karmen (Mark) Evans, Kristen (Kent) Guderjahn, Kellee (Nick) LeNoue, Koree (Chris) Hoffman, Lindsey (Todd) Tescher, Kyle (Heather) Mikkelsen, Evan Mikkelsen, Grant Klevgaard, Mason Klevgaard, and Gavin Klevgaard; 18 great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene Schultz of Roseau, MN; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; sisters Edith Dickhausen and Lenore Rodamaker; brothers Louis Dickhausen, Frank Dickhausen, and William Dickhausen; and great-grandson Jackson Guderjahn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. and Rosary at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
