Marie Dalzell, 96, of Walhalla, ND passed away peacefully Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 20th from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Brigid's Catholic Cemetery, Cavalier, ND.
Marie Julia Bailly was born May 23, 1920 on a farm near Leroy, ND to Louis and Olive (Provost) Bailly.
On June 1, 1938, she married Vernon A. Dalzell in Leroy, ND in the church where they met. They celebrated 76 years together before he preceded her in death in 2014.
Marie was a housewife and mother who also worked outside the home. She picked potatoes, ran a lunch counter at Olson Motor Co and enjoyed working at the green house in Cavalier. The family moved to Walhalla in 1961 to run a service station. She worked at the clinic for several years and then moved on to help Vernon at "The Station".
She was an accomplished oil painter; many given as gifts, some sold and others kept for her own enjoyment. She also enjoyed sports; bowling and golf, especially her hole in one. Marie and Vernon loved fishing. They spent 20 years of retirement summers at their place on the Lake of the Woods.
Marie was active in her community, church, American Legion Auxiliary, The Brush Bunch, homemakers and a bridge club to name a few.
Survivors include her children: Catherine Pogorzelski, Green Bay, WI, Marilyn (Gary) Smith, Afton, MN, John (Jeanine) Dalzell, Dayton, WA, Robert (Elizabeth) Dalzell, Sebastopol, CA, Jeffrey (Barbara) Dalzell, St. Cloud, MN; daughter-in-law, Marge Dalzell, Allen, TX; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Isabelle (Westley) Wankel, Fort Myers, FL.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sons, Boyd Louis and Clifford Dean; brothers: Everette, Edmund, Marcel, and Gordon; sisters: Lucille Cranston, Dorothy Toliver, Frances Thompson; son-in-law, Alex Pogorzelski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center, St. Boniface Catholic Church, and the Walhalla American Legion Auxillary.
