Marian E. Jonasson

Marian E. Jonasson age 68 of Cavalier, ND died on Monday, September 4, 2006, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gardar Pioneer Lutheran Church, Gardar, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Gardar Cemetery, Gardar, ND.
Marian Elin Sturlaugson was born October 21, 1937, at Langdon, ND to Victor and Aldis (Johnson) Sturlaugson. She grew up in Langdon and graduated from Langdon High School in 1955. Marian attended Jamestown College and the University of North Dakota. She taught music, English, and literature at the Valley School in Crystal, ND. Her love of music was evident in the number of community music events she was a part of. For the past 22 years she has been a resident of Wedgewood Manor.
On November 23, 1958, she married Gerald Jonasson at Langdon, ND. Gerald died on May 2, 1984.
She is survived by sons, Duane Jonasson, Edinburg, ND; Michael (Karen) Jonasson, Warner Robins, GA; Jon (Julie) Jonasson, Fargo, ND; James (Pam) Jonasson, West Fargo, ND; Kip Jonasson, Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Vernon (Dallas) Sturlaugson, Larimore, ND; Dr. Lee (Bonnie) Sturlaugson, Park River, ND; Sidney Dale (Wilma) Sturlaugson, Green River, WY; and sister, Helen Francis, Minneapolis, MN.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lorraine Fernandez, Lillian Stoelting, Marvel Groff and Judith Sturlaugson.
