         Mae L. Gainer, 96, formerly of Cavalier and Walhalla, ND passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Fargo, ND. A private family service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.

     Mae L. Anderson was born May 29, 1924 at Walhalla, ND to Ingvald and Gunda Anderson. She grew up in Walhalla and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1942. In June of 1943, she married Harold Gainer at Cavalier, ND. After their marriage, Mae worked as a dental assistant in Walhalla. In 1946, after Harold returned home from the service, they resided in Walhalla and Mae worked as a cook at the Walhalla Public School until the age of 81. In 2006, she moved to Cavalier to be closer to family and in 2019, moved to Fargo, to live with her daughter.

     Mae’s life exemplified her love of God and others. She was an example of hard work, serving, and thankfulness. She was committed to her family and preparing for her eternal home.

     She is survived by her daughters: Linda Williams, Fargo, ND. and Lorna (Wayne) Ratchenski, Cavalier, ND; grandchildren: Angela Williams, Brent (Jill) Williams, Tara (Chad) Kendall, Bryan (JoEllyn) Ratchenski; great-grandchildren: Madisen Williams; Seth, Ben, Issac, and Ethan Williams; Rhun, Cyrus, Piper, James, and Cade Kendall; Colton and Alyx Ratchenski; sister, Iona Greene.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold; granddaughter, Tamara Williams, son-in-law, Rick Williams and siblings: Lloyd, Violet, Earl, June, Adeline, and Ernest.
