Mabel J. Stegman

Mabel J. Stegman, 89, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Cavalier, ND, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier, and visitation for one hour before the time of the service at the church.

Mabel was born March 11, 1933, to Norris and Elva (Dalzell) Berg in Walhalla, ND. She grew up in Walhalla and graduated from Walhalla High School. On July 27, 1951, Mabel married Russell Stegman in Walhalla. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Cavalier area, and for the past six years Mabel resided at Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge, MN.

Mabel was involved in many community and church activities. She enjoyed gardening and flowers.

Mabel is survived by her children: Gwen Tagliabue, Susan Spiedel, Mark Stegman, and Gary (Kris) Stegman; son-in-law, Curtis Hartje; grandchildren: Coy (Rachal) and Jedediah (Erin); Jennifer (Jeremy); Trisha (Kent) and Rachael (Steve); Joel (Julie), Erin (Matthew), Katelyn, and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Devin and Ella; Roman, Atticus, and Emmaline; Kadence, Gryffen, and Gracelynn; Aiden and Cole; and Joie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; children: David and Audrey; son-in-law, Dale Spiedel; brothers, Ivan and Glen Berg; and sister, Vivian Carpenter.
