Mabel Jordan

Mabel Jordan, 81, of Langdon, ND passed away Monday August 21, 2006 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Mabel Alice Spratt was born December 10, 1924 in Easby, ND to Joseph (Jack) and Nora (Wolford) Spratt. She attended North Loma for first and second grade. Her family then moved to Waterloo Township where she attended school through the seventh grade and then on to Dresden Township for the Eighth grade. Mabel moved to Wales where she went to work at the local telephone office as an operator. She then worked at the Wales Café which she and her sister took over as their own business. Mabel moved away to Owatonna, MN for a year and a half returning in 1945. She returned to her job as a telephone operator. Elmer Jordan and Mabel were united in marriage on August 23, 1945 at the Wales Methodist Church of Wales, ND. In November of 1945 they opened up a café in Wales, ND which they operated for 2 years. In 1947 they bought the Thompson Farm and she became a farm wife and a stay-at-home mom. She loved to play cards with her siblings, grandchildren, enjoyed playing bingo, and reading. She was an active member of the Linden Homemakers Club, Cavalier County Senior Club, American Legion Auxiliary, the Methodist Churches of Wales, Hannah, and later Langdon, ND.

Mabel is survived by her husband Elmer, Langdon, ND, her children: Beverly Platz, Langdon, ND; Gloria Jordan, Mesa, AZ; Charles (Marie) Jordan, Langdon, ND; Terry (Jackie) Jordan, Alvarado, MN; Arnold (Judith) Jordan, Kenmare, ND; Stephen (Carrie) Jordan, Bismarck, ND; Mickey Jordan, Dickinson, ND; Randy (Jody) Jordan, St. Cloud, MN; Brenda Rampy, Richardson, TX; Kevin (Tara) Jordan, Little Falls, MN; 24 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, brother; Ernie (Sharon) Spratt, Prior Lake, MN, sisters; Nora (Norman) Wirth, Tokio and Donna (Larry) Estenson, Warwick, ND.

Mabel was preceded in death by her grandson Chad Jordan, son-in-law James Platz, daughter-in-law Virginia Jordan, brothers; Earl, Robert, Raymond, Joseph and sisters; Neva, Doris, Anna Mae, Ethel, Betty and Carole.

VISITATION will take place from 2 to 5pm Friday August 25, 2006 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Saturday, ND.

PRAYER SERVICE 7:00 pm Friday evening at the United Methodist Church of Langdon, ND

SERVICES Saturday August 26, 2006 at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church of Langdon, ND.

INTERMENT Lebanon Cemetery of Langdon, ND.
