Lynn Schroeder

T. Lynn Schroeder, 67, of Cavalier, ND, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Methodist Church in Cavalier. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. In honor of Lynn, casual dress is expected.

Theodore Lynn Schroeder was born May 27, 1959, at Cavalier, ND to Theodore J. and G.A. Lorraine (Bjornson) Schroeder. He grew up in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1977. Lynn met Judy Monette while attending Mayville State College. Following graduation, he returned to Cavalier to become editor of the Cavalier Chronicle.

Music was always a passion for Lynn, and always seemed to be in a band of some sort or filling in at various venues for several celebrity entertainers. He began playing in October 1981, with the Dick King Classic Swing Band for the next 26 years and, starting in February of 1992, the North Dakota American Legion State Band for 29 years. He also played in the stage bands: High Society, Red River Brass and the Downtown Horns for 17 years; and was a member for many years, of the band that played for the Myra Jazz Festival. In 2018, Lynn was inducted into the Mayville State University Performing Arts Hall of Fame.

On May 27, 1983, he married Judy Monette at Assumption Catholic Church in Pembina, ND. She survives as do his siblings: Jerry (Kathy) Schroeder of Horace, ND, Judie Gill and Tim (Debbie) Schroeder, all of Cavalier; in-laws: Bev (Tom) Burke, Ron (Peggy) Monette and Harold Monette, all of Pembina, Bob (Jill) Monette of Eugene, OR. Herb (Eva) Monette of Weslaco, TX and Don Anderson of Harwood, ND; plus several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ted and Lorraine; mother- and father-in-law, Betty and John Monette; niece, Jeri Lynn Monette; nephews: Kipp Schroeder and Joel Burke and sister-in-law, Shirley Anderson.
