Lyle D. Hardy

Lyle D. Hardy age 73 of Cavalier, ND died on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fargo, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Olga, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, June 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Interment in the St. Ellen's Cemetery. Military rites by the Bjornson-Sigfusson Post #227, Mountain American Legion.
Lyle D. Hardy was born October 6, 1932, to William E. and Mary E. (Sherlock) Hardy on the farm south of Walhalla. He attended the Grey rural school and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. After completing a course in farming and agriculture at N.D.S.U., he served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952 to 1955.
On December 19, 1953, he married JoAnn Hillman at Walhalla. After his discharge from the service, they moved to the farm near Concrete where he farmed and raised cattle. He was also employed as a school bus driver for Cavalier Public School, Pinkerton Security at Cavalier Air Force Station, Mayo Construction, Page Oil, and the U.S. Postal Service. Lyle was also a special deputy for Pembina and Cavalier counties.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, children, Gary (Cleo Faye) Mohall, ND; Joe (Norine) and Michelle Hardy (friend, Don) all of Cavalier, ND; John (Becky) Rolla, ND; Todd (Heather) Langdon, ND; Brenda (Bob) Mitzel, York, ND; Rita (Brian) Visser, Fargo, ND; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Bill (Lois) Walhalla, ND; Linda Fischer, Langdon, ND; Jim (Charlotte) Neche, ND; and Tom (Joanne) Walhalla, ND; brother-in-law, Greemer (Gladys) Hillman, Cavalier, ND.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Joe and Sarah Hillman, and brother-in-law, Tom Fischer.
