Lorraine L Hartje

Lorraine L. Hartje, 94, of St. Thomas, ND, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery or Faith in Action, Cavalier, ND. 

Lorraine was born December 13, 1930, in Leroy, ND, the daughter of George and Lucille (Martineau) Freschett. She grew up in Leroy, ND and moved to Cavalier when she was 7. She attended school in Cavalier. On March 30, 1948, Lorraine married Leonard Hartje at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. 

Lorraine enjoyed flowers, gardening, mowing, playing cards and doing crafts. She was a member of the Blue Ribbon Homemakers and the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. 

Lorraine is survived by her children: Gary Hartje, St. Thomas, ND; Sue Brown, Fargo, ND; and Curtis Hartje, Neche, ND; grandchildren: David (Nicole) Brown, Bobby (Amanda) Brown, Barbie (Scott) Hoffarth, Trisha (Kent) McCurdy, and Rachael (Steve) Thompson; great-grandchildren: Shaun and Brady Brown, Harmon, Bently, and Kinly Brown, Espen and Gianna Westby, Kadence, Gryffen, and Gracelynn McCurdy; sisters: Pat Kasprick and Barb O’Connell. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents; son-in-law, Ray Brown; daughter-in-law, Audrey Hartje; brother, Red Freschett and sister, Sharon Freschett.
