Lorraine Ballweg

Lorraine Ballweg, 94, of Langdon, ND passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Lorraine June Melland was born July 15, 1922 in Williston, ND. She grew up in the Nekoma area and graduated from Nekoma High School before attending a business college in Park River, ND. Lorraine and Chester Mann were united in marriage on May 1, 1946 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Nekoma. They farmed and had four children together. After Chester’s death in 1964, Lorraine continued to raise their family while working as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union. On December 6, 1969, Lorraine married Clarence Ballweg in Langdon. They lived their life together in Langdon. Lorraine volunteered at the hospital and did ceramics in her younger years. She loved to play cards and was a great cook. She was a charter member of the Langdon Eagles Auxiliary, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Catholic Daughter.

Surviving Lorraine are her children: Carol (Ken) Myhre of Langdon, Dale (Becky) Mann of Grand Forks, & David (Antoinette) Mann of Bismarck; grandchildren: Wendy (Scott) Wentzloff, Shawn Torkelson, Mark (Jen) Myhre, Owen (Jessie) Myhre, Nicole Goodwin, Kaitlyn Mann, Cassidy Mann, Carly Mann, Maegan Mann, Trisha (Eric) Johnson, Michael Roth, & Adam Roth; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; step-children: Keith Ballweg, Gayle (Larry) Coles, & Sheila (Rich) Pulju; several step-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Tom (Mary) Mann. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Chester & Clarence, son Dennis, and step-son Darrell (Cheryl) Ballweg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Visitation will take place from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery in Nekoma, ND.
