Lloyd S. Northagen, 85, Walhalla, ND passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla, ND.
Lloyd Stanley Northagen was born March 27th, 1940 on the family farm near Dahlen, ND, the son of Henry J. and Joran (Steinley) Northagen. He was raised on the family farm, attended the Dahlen School, and was confirmed at East Sarnia Lutheran Church.
Lloyd moved to the Walhalla area in the late 60's where he began his career as a lineman for Otter Tail Power Company. He then went on as an electrician for J I Shepard Electric, located in Walhalla, until the owner of the company retired. Lloyd then began working for 3D Farms up until retirement. After he retired, and because he liked to keep busy, he was hired on to do maintenance & lawn care at Young Town Terrace, where he resided until he moved into the Pembilier Nursing Center in June of 2025. Early on, Lloyd served on the city council, and was also a volunteer for the Walhalla Fire Department for over 20 years, and was a retired honorary fireman.
Lloyd kept himself busy tinkering on his lawn mower and tending to his tomato garden and flowers in the summertime, and always had his shovel in hand in the winter time to help clear off other tenants sidewalks when he was able. He loved working with his hands and was always there to help with any little wiring projects anyone had. He always had a story to tell about the good old days, and enjoyed watching old westerns, working on word search puzzles, and listening to Sunday Mass on the radio. His pride and joy was Trixie, a little terrier that he had rescued from the Bismarck area. Wherever Lloyd was, Trixie was sure to be close behind.
Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Callie Northagen; son, Darrin Northagen; 6 grandchildren, MacKenzie, Casey, Tristen, Page, Hope & Blake, and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lonnie; brothers, Olaf, Gilmen & Jim; sisters, Avis Dvorak and Violet Charon.
Memorial service & burial pending for Spring.
