Linda Smith

Linda Marie (Siewert) Smith, 79, of St. Thomas, ND, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Unity Hospital, Grafton, ND.
Linda was born in Grafton on August 21, 1937, to Elmer and Dorothy (Felt) Siewert. She attended St. Thomas Public School and the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural St. Thomas.
Linda married Ralph Smith on July 10, 1955, in St. Thomas, ND, and together they raised three children, Wesley Smith, Lynette Smith, and LeAnn (Ernie) Aguilar.
When Linda married Ralph, she became a part of the entire Smith family. Linda enjoyed being part of both families.
Linda worked and played hard all her life, never afraid to give anything a try! She drove farm truck, was well known for her meticulous skills hanging wall paper, painting interiors, upholstery, and her beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed riding snowmobiles, skiing, curling, bowling, square dancing, sewing, or crafting of any kind. There wasn't much she couldn't fix, sew, or patch. She also recycled, reused, and refurbished just about anything. In the last years of her life she was known as "The Rug Lady", making many beautiful rugs, many of them custom designed. She was an avid bingo player and loved Texas Hold Em, winning a couple local tournaments. She was an active participant in the community and shared her fabulous Divinity every Christmas! Linda was also a proud member of the United Methodist Church, the Hobby and Culture Guild, and the Birthday Club. Linda was always there for whatever you needed, she was a caregiver to all.
Linda is survived by her husband Ralph; three children: Wesley, Lynette, and LeAnn; four grandchildren: Krystal (Toren) Mohs, Devin (Crystal) Aguilar, Nichole Aguilar, and Dylan (Cassidey) Aguilar; four great-grandchildren: Dustin Aguilar, Teel Mohs, Rosalinda Aguilar, and Kingston Aguilar with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Kenneth, Wayne, and Paul; nephews: Douglas Siewert, David Siewert, and Curtis Siewert; special family members: Jean (Smith) Siewert, Stuart Smith, Neil Smith, and many other special relatives over her long life.
Per Linda's wishes, she has donated her body to the University of North Dakota Medical School. Linda also requested that we not hold a traditional service, but instead will plan a Celebration of Life/ Irish Wake-fest (had to add the fest since she is actually German: sometime this summer. Notifications will be posted and all family and friends are welcome to join us in remembrance.
