Leonard Thompson

Leonard Thompson, 79, of Cavalier, ND passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Cavalier. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier.
Leonard C. Thompson was born May 8, 1937 at rural Svold, ND to Roy and Ena (Johnson) Thompson. He grew up and attended school at Star School in LaMoure Township.
On January 19, 1955, Leonard married Elaine Klindt at Cavalier, ND. After their marriage, Leonard raised cattle, worked for area farmers, and drove truck. He was a member of Peters Lutheran Church in Svold. Leonard served as the President for several years and was on the LaMoure township board.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, Cavalier, ND; son, Norman (Shelly) Thompson, Cavalier, ND; daughter, Laurie (Roy Lee) Warren, San Marcus, TX; and son, David (Betsy) Thompson, Bellavista, AR; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren;
Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Ena Thompson; half-brother, Leonard; sister, Elaine Stark and half-sister, Irene McGregor.
