Lenore Newland

Lenore Newland, 75, of Langdon, ND passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier, ND.

Lenore Backes was born September 6, 1941 near Dresden, ND to Louie & Elsie (Ring) Backes. She graduated from Osnabrock High School and then went on to serve in the US Army. Lenore married Keith Hodgemire, and they had a daughter, Kristine. Lenore then married Steve Newland. She lived most of her life in Michigan where she worked as a CNA. In 2004, Lenore moved to Osnabrock, ND where she worked as a CNA at the nursing home and was postmaster for a couple years. She moved to Langdon when she retired. Lenore enjoyed reading and gardening.

Lenore is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Dave) Benedict of Fennville, MI; three grandchildren; and siblings: Marlene (Ed) Stremick of Walhalla, Jeanette Wedwick of Osnabrock, Jolene (Marvin) Eudy of Gladewater, TX, Marilyn (Dennis) Smith of Fargo, Wayne (Sally) Backes of Osnabrock, Bill (Karen) Backes of Osnabrock, JoMary (Andy) Fischer of Grand Forks, and Kurt Backes of Walhalla. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dennis, and brother-in-law Bud Wedwick.
