Laverne E. Tharalson, 95, of Hoople, ND. passed away April 9, 2018 at First Care Health Center, Park River, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Hoople, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.
Laverne Edith Hove was born June 13, 1922 in Grafton, ND. to Ole and Edith (Larson) Hove. She grew up in the Grafton area where she attended District 110 Country School. In 1940, she graduated from Grafton High School. Laverne then went to work as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell working in Grafton and Berkeley, CA.
On November 6, 1946, she married Allan Tharalson at Grafton Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in Hoople and she continued living in the home they built in 1950. Allan and Laverne were instrumental in the plans and raising funds for the Hoople Pool. She spent five years living with her daughter Ruth in Las Vegas, NV.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 68 years, and also a member of the Homemakers Club, Band Boosters, the First Lutheran Church Women and First Lutheran Church.
Laverne was always willing to offer a helping hand with transportation and making sure she filled the car with friends for the next social event.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Hall (Danny Carvalho), Hoople, ND; grandchildren: Jacob (Brandi) Hall, Las Vegas, NV, Erik (Katrina) Tharalson, Denver, CO, Molly (Kyle) Prevost, Birdle, Manitoba; great-granddaughter, Logan Janine. Also survived by a sister, Marion (Arleigh) Birk, Hoyt Lakes, MN; sister-in-law, Margaret Nelson, Mayville, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Allan; and son, Roger
