Larry Frieson, 73, of Walhalla, ND passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held in Harvey, ND.
Lawrence Jerome Frieson was born December 8, 1942 at Drake, ND to Joseph and Lena (Schwan) Frieson. He grew up on the family farm near Drake and graduated from Drake High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1970. He married Linda Wolf and together they had a daughter, Leslie. He spent years working in the ship yards in Long Beach, CA and on the oil rigs off the coast of Louisiana. He then returned home to North Dakota to help on the family farm when his father became ill.
In 1972, he joined the Cavalier Air Force Station as an electrician. On August 1, 1975, he married Mickie Bonaime and they had three daughters, Shannon, Amanda, and Jenni. He and Mickie opened Nature's Best Flower Shop and Greenhouse in 1991 and ran it for a successful 11 years. Larry retired from the CAFS as a PARCS TSE Operator after 32 years. Things he enjoyed were watching westerns, cross word puzzles, woodworking, seasonal farm work, playing pinochle, and visiting friends at the Walhalla Inn.
Survivors include his daughters: Leslie (Nereus) Estridge, Pace, FL, Shannon (Philip) Hartwig, East Grand Forks, MN, Amanda (Ryan) Haugen, Minot, ND, Jenni Frieson (Shon Kalis), Streeter, ND; grandchildren: Jarrett and Briana; Shelby and Lynnsey; Mason, Hailey, and Brayden; Courtney, Laci, Connor, and Ty; mother, Lena Vetter, Mandan, ND; brother, Jeff (Melody) Frieson, Mandan, ND.
Preceding him in death were his father, Joseph; brothers: Arnie and Leroy; and step-dad, Ludwig Vetter.
