Margaret June Bjornson was born on June 5, 1933, on the family farm near Mountain, North Dakota to Fridbjorn and Gudlaug Samuelson Bjornson. She was the youngest of a large and loving family who worked hard farming, supporting their community and caring for each other. Icelandic was the language spoken in her home during her early childhood, and she learned English when she started school. June graduated from Mountain High School in 1951. She attended and graduated with her teaching certificate from Mayville State College. June taught in one-room, rural schools and then taught in Webster and Cavalier, ND where she made lifelong friends.
On December 21, 1958, June married Deane Bjornson at Vikur Lutheran Church in Mountain. They lived in Fargo, ND for one year before returning to Cavalier where they made their permanent home. After retirement, June and Deane spent several winters in Scottsdale, Arizona enjoying the company of family and friends.
June and Deane always focused on their family, extended family, community and faith. June was amazingly strong, intelligent and practical. She was an extraordinarily loving and supportive wife, mother and amma (grandmother). June had a kind way about her and was always up for some fun with her great sense of humor.
