John A. Koropatnicki, 59, of Walhalla, ND passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, April 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Leroy, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Walhalla Ambulance Service.
John Allen Koropatnicki was born September 3, 1956 in Cavalier, ND to Peter and Mary (Zaharia) Koropatnicki. He was raised on the family farm and attended Walhalla Public School, graduating in 1974. John helped on the farm and in the gravel construction business. In 1972, his family moved from the farm and operated Walhalla Equipment Co. He was employed in the business until it closed due to an explosion that injured his father. He then worked at the Walhalla Bean Company, Danielson Construction, Rick Carriveau Construction, and worked on his own buildings. John was a lifelong member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was baptized and confirmed.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Koropatnicki, Walhalla, ND; siblings: Jerald Koropatnicki, Cavalier, ND; Wayne (Sharon) Koropatnicki, Walhalla; Joan Thomas, Port Orchard, WA; Linda Koropatnicki and Kent Koropatnicki both of Orlando, FL; four nieces; five nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; many cousins.
Preceding him in death were his father, Peter; grandparents: Theodore and Mary Koropatnicki and William and Dora Zaharia; an aunt and several uncles.
