Irene Menke

     Irene Menke, 93, formerly of Neche and Cavalier, ND passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Valley Senior Living, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.

     Irene was born May 29, 1926 at Altona, Manitoba to Peter and Helena (Brown) Friesen.

     On February 20, 1944, she married Christopher A. Menke at Neche, ND. She worked as a waitress for 40 years at various area cafes. Irene enjoyed her flower gardens, baking, crafts, and volunteering at the Thrift Store in Cavalier.

     She is survived by her sons: DuWayne (Carol) Menke, Hudson, WI, Larry Menke, Chicago, IL, Donald (Kathy)  Menke, Bottineau, ND; daughter-in-law ,Gwen Menke, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild;  brother, Emery Friesen.

     Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chris; son, James; and brothers, Arnold and Raymond.
