Harry W. Short

Harry W. Short, a 40 plus year resident of Concord, Cali., passed away peacefully on March 1, 2016 in California.

Harry was born September 8, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1958 and was drafted into the US Army. He served honorably from 1958 to 1960 including being stationed one year in Germany.

Harry’s interests included Mother Earth and history, which led him to become an engineering geologist, an avid photographer, writer, and genealogist.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 18, 2016 at Soper Cemetery near Fairdale, ND with Pastor Judy Banwart officiating. Fellowship will follow at the Pain Reliever in Nekoma, ND (212 Main Street).

Harry was a newer email friend of mine, and he shared his love of Geology with me, I would have liked to have met him personally, but never got out to California, though we talked about it. Since I teach a college course in Geology, Harry voluntarily sent me many rocks, including rocks from the Dover Cliffs, that I now share with my class, so his name and legend will live on. I also cherished his travel articles in the Driller's magazine. The Barth, Flom, and Jensen families send our condolence, and I will visit his gravesite.
