Gunnar S. Thomasson age 89, of Cavalier, ND died on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Saturday, September 17th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of service. Burial in the Andvari Cemetery, rural Cavalier, ND.
Gunnar S. Thomasson was born August 31, 1916, at Hallson, ND to Egill and Gudbjorg "Ida" (Johnson) Thomasson. He grew up in the Akra area . Gunnar worked for various farmers in the area and also worked construction.
On November 28, 1939, he married Nancy Ellen Grover at Hallock, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Carol (Howard) Puppe, Buckley, WA; Gunnar S. "Butch" Thomasson, Cavalier, ND; Ida (Arnold) McLeod, Hewitt, MN; Kenneth (Judi) Thomasson, Hensel, ND; Ralph (Judy) Thomasson, William Thomasson, Alvin Thomasson, all of Cavalier, ND; Gloria (Kenneth) Bullock, Wadena, MN; Richard (Diane) Thomasson and David (Betty) Thomasson, all of Cavalier, ND. 28 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; sisters, Carolina Dearinger, Walhalla, ND; Arndis Omberg, Aiken, MN; Lizzy (Vern) Radtke, Jamestown, ND.
Gunnar was preceded in death by his parents; son, John H.E. "Jack" Thomasson, Sr.; sister, Pauline and brothers, Magnus, Mundi, John, Steve, and Egill.
