Greg R. Sturma

    Gregory R. Sturma, 83, of Cavalier, ND passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 20^th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home in Cavalier.

    Greg was born in Monango, ND to Frances and Richard Struma on June 11, 1940. After graduating from Fullerton High School in May of 1958, Greg enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Southerland until his honorable discharge in May of 1962.

     He married Judith Ulmer on December 15, 1962. He worked for the Soo Line Railroad based out of Fullerton, ND until 1969, when he became a salesman for Schwans. In 1975, Greg and Judy moved to Cavalier where they resided until moving to Grand Forks in 2023.

     During Greg and Judy’s craft business years, he enjoyed visiting with the many people he met, making friends everywhere they went. He also loved taking pictures mainly of his grandchildren and Judy’s flowers.    

     Greg will be forever remembered by his daughter, Jodi (Craig) Drengson, Reiles Acres, ND; grandchildren: Cassandra (Casey) Hobus, East Grand Forks, MN, Christopher (Vanessa) Lawonn, Cavalier, ND, Nicholas Lawonn (Larissa Kurpius-Brock), Grand Forks, ND, Rowan and Isabella Drengson, great-grandchildren: Masen, Rylee, Asher, Hallie, Sawyer, Aiden, Layla, and Henley.

     Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter, Diana, and brothers, Kent and Douglas.      

     Gregory Richard Sturma, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, to be reunited with the love of his life, Judy.
