Gordon V. Ralston age 85 of Cavalier, ND and formerly of Crystal died on Monday, January 30, 2006, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before services on Thursday. Burial in the Crystal Memorial Cemetery, Crystal, ND.
Gordon V. Ralston was born December 5, 1920, at Grafton, ND to Claire and Rubye (Mullen) Ralston. He grew up in Park Township of Pembina County where he attended the Halliday School and farmed with his father. From 1944 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge from the service he returned to Park Township.
On October 25, 1947, he married Delores M.L. Throndset at Hallock, MN. They farmed in Park Township and later he worked at the PAR Site and did custom cattle hauling. Delores passed away on September 29, 1997.
Gordon was a member of the Hensel Methodist Church and board member of the Hensel Farmers Elevator. He was also a charter member of the Pembina County NFO.
He is survived by his children, Gail (Cecil) Johnson and Jean (Richard) Elke, all of Cavalier, ND; Darlene (Garry) Thompson, Minnewaukan, ND; Hugh Ralston, Crystal, ND; Glen and Mark Ralston, both of Cavalier, ND; and Bruce (Diane) Ralston, Mountain, ND; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; sister, Lois Ralston Conkle, Seattle, WA; nephew, Brian Conkle.
Gordon was also preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Douglas Elke, and nephew, Gordon Conkle.
