George Roder

George Roder, 87, of Langdon, ND, passed away May 3, 2025, in Sun City, AZ.

Otto George Roder was born November 24, 1937, in Langdon, ND, to Albert and Martha (Pearson) Roder. He attended school in Langdon and continued his education at Westmar College and UND . He entered the US Army in March of 1956 and was honorably discharged in December of 1957. On March 12, 1960, George and Erla “Beth” Schoep were united in marriage. George farmed in Easby Township and was postal supervisor in Langdon for more than 30 years in Langdon. After retirement, he and Beth have wintered at Sun City, AZ.

George was an avid hunter and had years of mission work all over the world, as much in the US as he did abroad. He was a current and founding member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church. George was a lifelong member of Lebanon #34 Masonic Lodge, Langdon Scottish Rite Bodies, and Kem Shrine.

Surviving George are his wife, Beth, of Langdon, ND; children: Albert William “Bill” (Robin) Roder of Rochester, MN, and Eric (Darla) Roder of Langdon, ND; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley (John) Goutcher and Marilyn Van Wyhe; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Jonathan Roder.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND, with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Lebanon Lodge in Langdon. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery.
