Garald D. Landsem

Garald Dennis Landsem passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Devils Lake, ND, at the age of 80. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting one hour before the time of the service.

Garald was born February 8, 1946, at Devils Lake to Edwin and Helga (Strand) Landsem of rural Edmore, ND. He graduated from Edmore High School in 1965. On January 27, 1968, he married Charlotte Sigvaldson. He farmed with his dad and on his own until the mid-90’s. Garald then drove truck for Clint Blomquist for several years. Through the years he also worked at the missile base in Nekoma; Langdon Motors; and helped Matthew and David Landsem and his son, Kevin, with field work.

Survivors include his children: Lori (Les) Green of Devils Lake, ND, Kevin (Laurie) Landsem of Langdon, ND, Tammy Nelson of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Austin (Lindsey) Nelson, Madison (Cody) Aarvig, Jared Smith and Jadyn Smith; brother Maynard (Charlotte) Landsem; in-laws: Viola Sigvaldson, Charles (Karen) Sigvaldson, Dennis Sigvaldson, Karen Sigvaldson; special friend Betty Ness; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Charlotte; Charlotte’s parents, Charles and Delores (Anderson) Sigvaldson; brother-in-law Rodney Sigvaldson; and niece Jennifer Sigvaldson.
