Esther L. Hillman

Esther Hillman age 90 of Cavalier, ND died on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain, ND. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Mountain Cemetery, Mountain, ND.
Kristin Esther Lilja Johnson was born July 10, 1916, in Thingvalla Township, Pembina County to Sveinn and Kristjana (Christianson) Johnson. She grew up in the Mountain area and attended the Eyford School. In 1933, she graduated from Milton High School and then attended beauty school in Grand Forks.
On June 11, 1938, she married Leo S. Hillman at Mountain, ND. After their marriage they farmed on the Hillman farmstead near Mountain for 47 years. Esther also worked at the Borg Home in Mountain. In 1985, they moved into Cavalier. Leo Hillman passed away on October 14, 1990.
Esther was a member of the Eyford Ladies Aide, P.T.A., Vikur L.C.W. and the Borg Home Auxiliary. She was also active as a 4-H leader.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Abrahamson, Cavalier, ND; grandchildren, Jana Abrahamson, Jonathan (Jodi) Abrahamson, Eric (Heidi) Abrahamson, Andrea Abrahamson, Karl Abrahamson, and Karie Abrahamson; great grandchildren, Jeff, Krista, Jordan, Audriana, Hailey, Logan, and Abby; sister-in-law, Nettie Johnson, Grafton, ND.
Esther was also preceded in death by her parents; infant children, Janna Kaye and Leo Michael; brother in infancy and brothers, John, Kris, Jonathan, Walter, Sveinn, and Mundi; and sisters, Augusta Johnson and Thora Lund.
