Eliza Emma Leedahl, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Miller) Ault, was born on March 14, 1915 at Cavalier, ND. She lived with her family on a farm near Cavalier in her early years, and attended school in Cavalier, graduating with the Class of 1932. Eliza went on to attend Mayville State Teachers College, and then taught at various rural schools in the area.
After her teaching career, Eliza was the bookkeeper for Hurtt Equipment Company in Hoople for many years.
She was united in marriage to Pete Leedahl on June 21, 1941 in East Grand Forks, MN, and to this union were born four children. The couple moved to Hoople after their marriage and made it their home for many years.
Eliza was an active member of the Hoople United Methodist Church, and also stayed busy in her community, serving as U.S. Postmaster from 1970 to 1985, as well as Hoople City Auditor for 20 years. She had most recently been making her home at the Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Arthur.
She was an avid sports fan, and baseball was her particular favorite.
Left to cherish her memory are her son: Gilbert "Butch" Leedahl of Hoople; her daughters: Nancy Hanson of Kindred, ND, Patty (Ron) Willey of Grand Forks, ND, and Brenda (Mark) Jordan of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bernice "Bunny" Bernhoft of Grand Forks, ND, and Deanna "Dee Dee" (Joe) Carik of Cavalier, ND; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Pete in 1983; three brothers: Austin, Ronald, and Mervin; and one sister: Evelyn Hornung.
