Eileen Winkler

Eileen Winkler, 86, of Cavalier, ND, formerly of Neche, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Cavalier. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Eileen was born on June 18, 1930, to Gus and Gunda (Wisenthal) Stegman, in Felson Township of Pembina County. She grew up in the Neche area and graduated from Neche High School. She then taught country school near Neche.
On June 14, 1949, Eileen married George Winkler at the Christ Lutheran Church in Neche. After their marriage, they lived in Neche where they ran the theater. She also worked as the bookkeeper at Cenex for many years.
Some of the things she enjoyed were baking, gardening, and spending time with grandchildren and family.
Eileen is survived by her husband, George; children: Deb Lidstrom, Stanley, ND, Dick (Bonnie) Winkler, Cavalier, ND, and David (Sarah) Winkler, Neche, ND; grandchildren: Derek Lidstrom (Jenna Taillon); Heidi (Matt) LeGassick, Dane (Susie) Winkler, Zachary (Erica) Winkler; Stefan (Heather) Winkler, Erin Winkler (Jake Shipp); great-grandchildren: Alexis; Parker, Izabella, Aniston, Charlotte; Viera and Baylor; sisters: Lois (Jim) Otto and Janice Large; and sister-in-law Diane Stegman.
She was preceded in by her parents; brother, Melvin Stegman, and brother-in-law, Bruce Large.
