Edward was born in Langdon, ND on February 25, 1931, to Philip J. Stremick and Emilia Elizabeth (Urlaub).
Edward was drafted to the military and served in the Army from 1952-1954 and spent six years as a reservist.
He met Marlene Backes at a local dance and told his mother the following day that he met his future wife. Marlene and Ed were married November 26, 1955, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla. They moved to Lakota, ND, where Ed held supervisory roles in road and dam construction for various companies including the 1972 return to Walhalla to join Philip Stremick Construction.
During the 70's and 80's, Ed raised crops, cattle, hogs, and pheasants while training his numerous hunting dogs. He enjoyed the hunt whether it was deer, elk, fox, or coyotes. Ed was proud of the large pumpkins and gourds he grew and entered for the Walhalla Pumpkin Fest. Eventually, he sold several varieties of pumpkins for Halloween. He was proud of the large vegetable garden at the farm.
Ed and Marlene often cared for sick and injured animals in their home, whether it was a bird, rabbit, dog, pig, or kitten. Ed loved going to the farm; he often said, especially in his later years, it gave his life purpose and was where he continued to raise crops and feed his stray cats.
Ed served his church and community as a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Water Board.
Ed is survived by his sister, Anna Werven of Walhalla; children: Bob Stremick (Sue Laudert) of Centennial, CO; Sandy Brandvold of Grand Forks, ND; Wayne Stremick (Nancy Knott) of Annandale, MN; and David Stremick of Grand Forks.
Preceding him in death; his wife, Marlene; daughter, Barbara Van Horn; son, Charles Stremick; his parents; sisters: Mildred, Mercedes, Amelda and Evelyn; and brothers: Philip, William and Daniel.
