Edward H. Lorenz age 98 of Walhalla, ND passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2006, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla ,ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 21, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements with Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND.
Ed Lorenz was born September 17, 1907, the oldest of ten children to John and Eva (Kelner) Lorenz at Langdon, ND. He grew up and attended school in Langdon.
On November 24, 1934, he married Sarah Hooey. In August of 1935, they moved to Walhalla. Sarah passed away on December 19, 1979.
He worked in the Walhalla State Bank and in the early fifties established Lorenz Insurance Agency. During his time in Walhalla he was treasurer of the Civic Club and prominent in the operation of the Walhalla Country Club. Ed was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. A very avid golfer he carded his 1st hole in one at 75 years of age and his 2nd ace at the age of 89.
He leaves to mourn his passing daughters, Patricia (Anthony) Caniglia, Papillion, NE and Catherine (Henry) Krahn, Springfield, MO; son, Patrick (Jennifer) Lorenz, Castine, ME; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Gladys) Lorenz, Langdon, ND and Ben (Ione) Lorenz, Santa Rosa, CA; sisters, Therese (Duane) Crockett, Arnold, MD and Mary Fran (Ed) Boletsa, St. Louis, MO.
Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thomas, John, Paul, and Bob; and sister, May (Buzz) Thompson.
Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Joseph Dube
Casket Bearers: Tony Caniglia Clarence Campbell, Emil Gendreau, Jack Karel, George Kopf, Henry Krahn, Patrick Lorenz, and Steve Lorenz
Music: Connie Eagan, Soloist and Bernadine Kopf, Organist
