Earl "Wayne" Cooper

Earl “Wayne” Cooper, 82, of Langdon, ND passed away November 2, 2016 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon.

Wayne was born September 30, 1934 in Westline, Missouri, to Johnny Frank and Elsie Mae (Craeger) Cooper. He attended school until joining the US Army in 1955. He earned his GED and attended some college courses. In 1957, Wayne married Janice Hanson in Edgefield, SC. They moved to Fairbanks, AK where two of their children were born. They then moved to Fort Huachuca in Arizona. In 1962, Wayne suffered his first heart attack and was medically discharged from the Army in 1963. He then was employed as a computer programmer by NASA in Louisiana. He and Jan welcomed two more children while living in Slidell, Louisiana and eventually moved to Lubbock, TX in 1970. They resided there until 1993 when then moved to Hannah, ND. They loved living in Hannah but, to make life easier, moved to an apartment in Langdon in 2010.

In his younger years, Wayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, and computers. He was inseparable from his wife of 59 years, Janice. He really loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone who knew Wayne enjoyed his kindness and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Janice, of Langdon, ND; daughters: Debra Jo Cooper of Langdon & Nancy Ellen (Don) Cooper-Muellenberg of Munich, ND; grandchildren: Kylie Tyree (Garth) Land of Sherman, TX, Brooke Leigh (Charlie) Plunkett of Lubbock, TX, Ashley Renee Dillman of Lubbock, TX, Alaina Lenore Minyard of Bottineau, ND, & Arianne Denise Minyard of Harrisburg, PA; thirteen great-grandchildren; and siblings: Joyce Scovill, Mike Cooper, Virginia Russell, and Kathy Lehman. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Bruce Wayne & Kevin Dale, and brothers Don & Bud.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Senior Center Meals-on-Wheels in Langdon, ND.
