Duane Halldorson

Duane Halldorson, 80, of Mountain, ND, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain, ND. Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the time of services.

Allan Duane Halldorson was born June 4, 1936 in Cavalier County, ND to Ernest and Helen (Bleakley) Halldorson. He grew up in Mountain and in the winter of 1951, he and his mother moved to Seattle, WA. After graduating from Cleveland High School in Seattle, he served in the U.S. Navy. While in the service he married Estelle Gropf. They moved to Seattle where he worked for Washington Iron Works. In 1975, he met Jeanne Jacks and they were married on August 23, 1993 in Reno, NV. He worked for Boeing in Seattle until his retirement. In 1997, Duane and Jeanne moved back to Mountain.

Duane enjoyed tinkering in his garage doing woodworking and several other projects. He also enjoyed working on his computers. He was a member of the Bjornson-Sigfusson American Legion Post in Mountain and the Icelandic Communities Association.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children: John (Lisa) Halldorson, Seatttle, WA, Debbie Prien, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Heather Fredericksen, Megan Prien, Bryan Prien, Ashley Halldorson, Nikole Halldorson, David Halldorson; great-grandchildren: Alexis and Piper Fredericksen, Lucy and Holden Halldorson.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Allan Dale Halldorson, and step-daughter, Carrie Ann Jacks.
