Dorothy E. Sott age 80 of Hensel, ND died on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at the MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Assembly of God Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9th from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Assembly of God Church, visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Dorothy E. Shannon was born June 23, 1925, in Pembina County to John and Etta (Rutherford) Shannon. She grew up and attended school in Cavalier.
On January 14, 1942, she married Carl A. Sott at Hallock, MN. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Hensel area. Carl Sott died on June 7, 1989. Dorothy also did volunteer work at the Wedgewood Manor.
She is survived by her children, Carlene (Matt) Bentley, Hephzibah, GA; Linda (Grant) Hanna, Fargo, ND; Randy (Lois) Sott, Grand Forks, ND; Herman (Gwen) Sott and Duaine Sott, all of Cavalier, ND; grandchildren, Karin Waycaster, Wendi Sott, Kristi Torgerson, Michael and Steven Hanna, Tonya Furstenau, and Justin Sott; great grandchildren, Amy and Kayla Waycaster, MaKenzie and Katie Jo Torgerson, brother, Gilbert Shannon, Brooklyn Center, MN; and sister, Myrtle Johnson, Cavalier, ND.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
